What To Wear On A First Date

What To Wear On A First Date

First dates can be nerve-racking and stressful to say the least. With the added pressure of trying to make a great first impression, the last thing you want to be worried about is that your outfit was the deciding factor on whether there is going to be a second date or not.

Trying to find the perfect in-between of not too fancy but still fashionable and cute can be challenging, but we’re here to help! From which outfit will work best to what makeup look you should be pairing with that outfit, it’s all about achieving that effortless look, and we’ve got just the tips and tricks to help you.

Finding Your Perfect Color

Everybody has that one color that makes them look amazing. Before we get started, you first need to figure your
perfect color and be sure to work that into your outfit one way or another. It doesn’t have to be your top or pants; it can be in your earrings, jewelry, or headband as long as it’s there and makes you extra glowy.

First Date Don’ts

Before we get into the first date dos, we have to talk about the don’ts.

  1. Don’t show too much skin.
  2. Don’t try a new look that you’re not 100% confident about—you want to feel your best.
  3. Avoid overly trendy outfits. The last thing you want is to be overambitious and feel out of your comfort zone the whole time.

Less is more on a first date; minimal and natural is always the way to go!

First Date Dos

Since you know what not to do, now let’s talk about what to do. The first date dos can be tricky because it’s all subjective to partial people and their style, but we can say this - no matter what your style is or what you decide to wear, your makeup should always look on point.

Be sure to keep it natural and glowy while still looking put together and cute. Just remember, no-makeup look is complete without a pair of Doe Lashes. Try the Starry Night Lash to fit the occasion, or choose the Whimsical Lash to amp up the drama.

As far as what is always safe on a first date:

  • Statement Jewelry
  • Jeans and a T-shirt
  • Going-Out Tops (depending on the occasion)
  • Comfy Heels (not too high)
  • Casual Sundress

Outdoor Date

Of course, the date activity will play a significant role in your decision on what to wear. If you’re going on a date that’ll be spent in the great outdoors, then you should shoot for breathability and comfort.

You can never go wrong with black leggings and a dry-fit top with a comfy pair of sneakers, especially for a hike or bike ride. If you’re looking for something a bit more flirty and cute, consider a tennis skirt and a stylish tank.

Lunch Date

For a casual lunch date, be sure not to overdo it. Black or blue jeans with a relaxed v-neck blouse, paired with some summer wedges or minimalist sandals.

Depending on where you live or what time of year it is, you might have to swap that top in for a sweater and those sandals in for boots, but either way, you get the point. Aim for simple while still looking put together.

Movie Date

Movie dates are the perfect opportunity to use your comfy card but don’t go too crazy. It’s definitely not an excuse to go out in sweats and no makeup, but leggings and a cozy sweater, yes!

Whenever you’re dressing more casually, this is an excellent opportunity to give your makeup look some time to shine. Pair this casual outfit with some flirty false lashes and glowing skin.

Coffee Date

Coffee dates can feel like the trickiest since there isn’t a set-in-stone outfit like with a dinner date. But we think this just means you have more freedom to do what you want. Mom jeans, a cardigan, sandals, or skinny jeans, a blouse, and nude heels—either one will work just fine.

The good thing about a coffee shop is that there are always ten different walks of life in there, from business professionals on a break to college hipsters studying, so either way, you’ll fit in with at least one crowd.

Dinner Date

A casual dinner date is definitely the easiest to get right. A helpful tip would be Googling the restaurant before you decide what you want to wear. This way, you’ll know just how nice to dress.

Usually, a cute little dress with some lower heels is your best bet. It’s sweet and flirty without going overboard or showing too much off.

A light white dress made from natural materials such as linen or cotton works best. with a small heel. Many people think that a white dress is not quite the right outfit for an evening out. But these are all conventions. After all, it is on a date that you want your beloved man to admire you, your beauty, femininity, your flowering appearance even more. And a dazzling white color to cope with this difficult task better than any other. It's cute and flirtatious, but without too much show off.

Post-Work Drinks

If you have plans to grab a drink or two after work, then you mostly will have to wear what you wore to work. Don’t stress though, start with a solid base, then build off that. Wear your best-fitting pants and cutest accessories to work, but swap out that bland blouse and blazer for a cute top and leather jacket before you head out.

Picnic Date

Picnic dates are becoming more and more popular, and we’re definitely not mad about it. Who doesn’t want to be taken on a romantic picnic date complete with wine and finger sandwiches?

You can’t go wrong with something like a floral sundress for a day like this or a midi skirt with a crop top. Remember, you’ll most likely be sitting on the ground, so you want something comfy but still classy and cute.

In Conclusion

Yes, first dates can be nerve-racking but remember never to take it too seriously and just be you.
